Mobile app privacy policy

Private by design. Clear by default.

This policy explains how the No Panic Math mobile app handles typed algebra questions, photos, permissions, and technical app state.

1. Scope

This privacy policy applies to the No Panic Math mobile app, a focused Grade 9 algebra learning tool. It does not describe every practice of the separate No Panic Math public website; the website distinction is explained below.

The mobile app does not require an account and does not include advertising, behavioral tracking, or analytics.

2. Information handled by the app

Typed questions

When you type an algebra question, the app processes the text in the app’s memory so it can provide the learning flow. The question is not automatically uploaded to us and is not sent to a cloud service by the learning flow.

Technical app state

The app uses opaque, in-memory navigation tokens to move between screens and maintain the current flow. These tokens are temporary technical values; they are not user accounts and are not used to identify or track you.

Optional email

The in-app Email No Panic Math action opens your device’s email composer with only the recipient and subject filled in. Opening the composer does not send your typed or recognized question, photo, email address, or other message data. Nothing is sent unless you choose Send. If you send an email, No Panic Math receives your sender email address and message, and the sender’s and recipient’s email providers handle that information under their own privacy policies.

What the app does not automatically collect

During the app’s learning flows, the app does not automatically collect:

  • Your name, email address, login, or account profile
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Analytics or tracking data
  • Question text or question photos

This list describes automatic app collection, not information you voluntarily send in a support email.

3. Camera and photo library

The app requests camera or photo access only after you choose an action that needs it. You can avoid camera and photo access entirely and type your question instead.

Camera

If you choose to take a photo, the image is used on the device to recognize the math question. It is not uploaded to us.

Photo picker

If you select an existing image, the operating system may provide the app with a temporary app-cache copy. The app deletes that temporary copy before continuing. No Panic Math never deletes the original image from your photo library.

Your library original is not changed or deleted.

The app works only with the image you choose for the current question flow.

4. On-device recognition and services

Photo text recognition runs on your device using Apple Vision or ML Kit, depending on the app build and device platform. The app does not send the selected photo or recognized question to No Panic Math.

No Panic Math does not use the GPT or OpenAI API. The mobile app does not send your question to OpenAI or another generative-AI cloud service.

These on-device frameworks are supplied as part of the relevant platform or app software. Device and app-store infrastructure may operate under the platform provider’s own terms and privacy practices.

5. The public website is separate

This policy’s statements about no account, no automatic question or photo uploads, and no analytics describe the mobile app. The separate public No Panic Math website includes an optional launch-email form intended for adults.

If a parent, guardian, or teacher submits that website form, the adult-owned email address and confirmation associated with the request are handled for that launch-update request. Submitting the website form is not required to use the mobile app, and the mobile app does not read or receive that form information.

6. Your choices and controls

  • Type instead: You can use typed input without granting camera or photo access.
  • Decline access: If you do not grant a requested permission, only the related camera or photo feature is unavailable.
  • Change permissions: You can review or change app permissions in your device settings.
  • Stop processing: You can leave the question flow or close the app.
  • Choose whether to email: Email No Panic Math is optional. It opens the device email composer with the recipient and subject only; opening it sends nothing. Your sender email address and message are sent only if you choose Send and are then handled by No Panic Math and the sender’s and recipient’s email providers under their policies.

Because the app does not create an account or automatically upload questions or photos to us, there is no cloud question history for us to retrieve or delete. This does not include messages you voluntarily send by email.

7. Students and sensitive information

No Panic Math is designed as an educational tool and does not ask students to create accounts or provide names, contact details, or other personal information in the learning flow. Users should avoid placing names, faces, school details, or unrelated personal information in a question image.

Students should ask a parent, guardian, or trusted adult to help with the optional Email No Panic Math action. Opening the email composer fills in only the recipient and subject and sends nothing until the user chooses Send. Do not put names, school details, question photos, or sensitive information in the email. If an email is sent, No Panic Math and the sender’s and recipient’s email providers receive and handle the sender email address and message under their respective privacy policies.

8. Data protection

The app limits its handling to what is needed for the current question flow and uses on-device processing to reduce data exposure. No method of storing or processing information can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but the learning flow is designed not to transmit question text or photos to us. The separate, optional email action works as described above.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or its practices change. The effective date at the top will be revised when a new version is published.

Before adding analytics, accounts, cloud processing, or similar data-connected features, we will update this policy to explain the new practice. Where required, the app will also provide appropriate notice or choices before those features take effect.

10. Contact

Questions about this policy or the No Panic Math mobile app can be sent to leawelton3@gmail.com. The optional in-app Email No Panic Math action opens the device email composer with only the recipient and subject filled in and sends nothing unless the user chooses Send.

If sent, No Panic Math and the sender’s and recipient’s email providers receive and handle the sender email address and message under their respective privacy policies. Students should ask a parent, guardian, or trusted adult to help. Please do not include names, school details, question photos, or sensitive information.
